Try to open the variable editor multiple times forces breaking of the GUI

When a large model is opened in the editor and the variable editor is tried to open by double-click multiple times, sometimes the GUI gets broken (not responding any more). It was reported by Axel using large models up to 200 elements. For a solution, maybe use a lock mechanism like in editor that avoids multiple windows of the viriable editor.
